Andrew Forgione elected USC President

After months of preparing, weeks of campaigning and two days of voting, Andrew Forgione won his race for USC President.

The Gazette sat down with Andrew before he won last night, and here is what he had to say about himself and his vision for the USC.

Andrew’s website received a lot of praise throughout the campaign, while his platform, like all other platforms, had mixed reviews.

On the Fuss On The Bus Elections Special, Andrew’s Presidential opponents, David Basu Roy and Omid Salari, both identified points of their platforms that they would like to see still come to fruition if they were not elected. David wanted a community green house to be lobbied for by the USC, and Omid wanted three different insurance policies for the USC, so that currently excluded student groups on campus can still receive support from their student government. Certainly there are other ideas on each of these candidates platforms which students believed in, so it will be interesting to see what initiatives and new points Andrew picks up from his two running mates.

Andrew’s first day on the job was today. For the next 437 days, Andrew will be in the spotlight and be the voice for Western students. Yes, President Tithecott will still be in power until May 31st, but many will still think that Andrew is President immediately, and as such, will probably start asking him tons of questions he has yet to learn the answers to. With the end of the election period finally here, it also means the end of something else: the colour teal being wearable. Andrew’s iconic campaign colour will now be forever known as Forgione Blue, but I would personally like to initiate a moratorium on all things teal for the next year. To replace your teal bus pass cover, head down to Travel Cuts in the UCC where they usually have an alternatively coloured cover. Also, can everyone who changed there ringtone to Forge’s Duck Sauce remix please change it to anything else.

As Forge ramps up for the next few months and year, he’ll be finishing his degree and trying to be a regular student as much as he can be. Maybe you’ll see President-Elect Forgione riding the (Fuss) Bus in the near future too! To see what he is up to as he begins his journey, you can follow him on Twitter: @andrewforgione.

Congrats Andrew, show us what you’ve got!
